Desi Plough-Making Soil Friable for Agriculture in Rural Areas
This year Covid-19 pushes everyone to went their native place(villages).I also get a chance to go there during the sowing of crop season or we can say agricultural season (May -June) after so many year.
I also tried a little to plough because I was new to see that how does the practice of agriculture in my village.Too much effort or hard work needed to do this work but unfortunately we does not give attention to farmers work.
Let's come to the point here People still use desiplough and kudali for tillage practice as technology is growing faster .
Little bit about plough
Tillage is the basic operation in farming. It is done to create favourable conditions for seed placement and plant growth. This is done mainly with a plough. Farmers have been using plough since time immemorial. The primitive model might have been a crooked twig or a branch of a tree. The basic components of the plough are a shoe, a share, a body, a handle and a beam.
The shoe and body make one piece in the case of ploughs being used in himalayan areas. The Joint between the shoe and the body is purposely avoided with a view to make the plough more rigid and robust, so that the implement can work on gravely soils with stones and other obstacles which are encountered during the course of ploughing.
Use of ox/bull/steer to pull the plough.
Force from the animal help the share of plough dig deep in soil and make compact soil friable and change the properties of soil like aeration, moiture etc which is preferred for sowing.
